Lung Scan -  Ventilation (VQ)

• Indications:

1. Usually done in conjunction with lung perfusion and recent chest x-ray.

2. Evaluation and detection of pulmonary embolism (PE) in conjunction with lung perfusion.

3. Evaluation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in conjunction with perfusion.

4. Evaluation of staging of patients with COPD, lung carcinoma, and bronchial obstruction.

• Patient Preparation:

1. Obtain a recent (within 24 hours) chest x-ray or have one ordered.
